A Monday Walk-In

·

·

Mondays are usually quiet in tattoo shops.

Weekends are packed with appointments.
But during the week – especially Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday – things slow down.

Still, walk-ins happen.

People looking for something spontaneous often avoid the busy weekends.
They come on quieter days instead.

Today felt like one of those days.

Winter in New York is starting to loosen its grip. The air was warmer than usual, and the streets were lively again. SoHo was full of people.

Our shop sits right next to Supreme, so there’s always a steady stream of tourists passing by.

A little after 4 PM, a young guy walked in.

His name was Paul.

His English had a slight accent, so I asked where he was from.
France, he said. He’s currently living upstate for school and came down to the city for the day.

“Just thought I’d get a tattoo while I’m here.”

Very New York.

He showed me a reference on his phone – a simple, doodle style stars. He wanted it on his arm.

The placement looked good. The size was small. Nothing complicated.

Just a quick one.

Cute stars came out nice.
A small souvenir from New York.

Hope he enjoys the rest of the city and makes it back home safely.

Some people come in wanting tattoos with heavy meaning and symbolism.
Others choose something small and simple like this.

Both are good.

Taste moves in different directions.

And sometimes, all it takes
is a small star on a warm Monday afternoon.
